I believe the caption of this video to be very true. A lot of people have been struggling throughout the year  because of the economic situation, many have lost their jobs, many other don’t feel secure on theirs and some others (like myself) had to rethink their business because of the economy. You hear and read a lot of stories, ones dramatic and some others not so much. We’ve all probably heard that the largest fortunes  have started during difficult times and even when right now it seems hard to believe and I cannot tell you business booming, one thing is fair to say, it forced us to make a conscious effort to figure out ways to innovate more, to give better  service, to perfect our value proposition and find people and resources that would help our business not only survive but grow even in this difficult passage of the history of our economy, because when you think about in abstract terms, that is just what it really is… a passage in our economic history.

Boys and girls in 2060 will read about our great depression as we read about the great depression of 1929. I am not trying of course, to diminish the great impact it has on our daily lives, we have all been directly affected in one way or another but as Steven Covey 90-10 principle indicates (10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react)  we can choose two different paths, fill frustrated and keep on focusing on the fact that it is unfair that some of the executives that caused this crisis are enjoying at the Bahamas and we are here on a leaky boat or we can decide this like everything in life, will soon pass too and even more so, this is a great opportunity to begin “the rest of our lives” and make any changes we need to make for our dreams to come true.

Entrepreneurship is what made America what it is today, Latinos are well known for being creative, for having an innate sense of community, for being social and resourceful, let’s get the most out of our identity, let’s develop ideas, create businesses, collaborate with other Latinos, let’s put our two cents for the recovery of America, let’s demonstrate why even when all of our countries have endured worst problems than this depression over and over again (that is in one way or another the main reason we are all here today), our people keep on laughing, keep on dancing, we keep our festive character and our people keeps on hoping.

This might well be the opportunity for all of us to become what we want to be, America was built by immigrants full of hope, armed just with ingenious ideas, we are fortunate to live in a country that opportunities are at the reach of anyone that decides to get them. If we just opt to believe in our own potential and decide to collaborate and surround ourselves with people decided to move forward and succeed and the ideas to make that happen, I am sure we will be surprised by all the opportunities available.  The only remaining question would  be… what would YOU like to launch?
